Tell me something. If you make a movie wouldn't you be excited to show it to the audience? So it's basically going to sit on the Warner Brothers Studio for eleven months without anyone watching it. That's so messed up. If it were me I would have it out November 14th, 2008 or earlier. I would be to excited to wait for another year to show the audience.

I think the prospect of extra cash outweighs their excitement cause they're twats

+1 Wilbo. WB are just smug because they know Harry Potter is their biggest franchise so they can do whatever they wish. It's like dangling a slice of the yummiest looking pizza infront of you but not letting you eat it. We've had way too much build up with a teaser trailer, press shots, film stills etc.. it's just not fair on people who are determined to see it, the film will do well whatever time it is released but this is a slightly selfish decision in my eyes, judging by that article which was posted earlier

Spoken like a true fan. I'm just so mad right now. I've waited seens 2005 (which will be four years ago when the movie comes out) when I read the book.

    obviosly i am VERY annoyed...
the writers strike is a very LAME excuse. This late stages of production they CANT say the writers strike has effected the film. They are just out for more money...
...its all about the money these days.
    :(

Part of being a HP fan I guess. Being patient. Then angry. Then a mixture of amused/disappointed. Got to love it.

I find the people saying that don't understand what was said, so I will explain:

As a result of the Writer's Strike, there are barely any big movies being released next summer, so there's a massive space for HBP, where it will have little/no competetion.

At least WB didn't lie to us and told us straight out that their reason was for more money. It's still really bastardish...if that's a word

I said barely any. Keeping Transformers in mind, of course. Not that I enjoyed the first film that much

There's also Twilight and I'm sure there's other things.

But it's also cause otherwise, WB probably won't have a decent income for 2009. 2008 is set cause TDK majorly overperformed, so instead of them releasing another big film which would result in a very large total income for 2008, they are releasing HBP next year to spread it out : (

according to mugglenet. the reason is as TDK made a huge amount of mney they are releasin it the same time nxt yr as TDK so it makes money of that amount and pbly more.

"Warner currently is riding high with "The Dark Knight," the Batman film that also stars Bale. The grim super-hero movie has taken in $452 million in the U.S. since its July 18 release, making it the second-highest grossing film ever.

To some degree, that success motivated Warner to shift "Half-Blood Prince," Horn said. The film will now hit theaters the same midsummer weekend that "Dark Knight" was released this year. Horn said the young, core Potter audience would be out of school and give the film a longer theatrical life. It will now open opposite Universal's special-effects comedy "Land of the Lost," which stars Will Ferrell. But Horn said there was nothing next year compared to this summer's especially dense slate of big-budget releases.

The article wrapped up with this quote from Horn: "We would never do anything to hurt one of the movies or the series. We love our fans."

Hey guys! I am new around here! I agree with all of you! Its outrageous to postpone the big day and for so long! I waited with such excitement the 21st of nov but now i ll have to wait for July. Actually I dont think that in Greece (i am Greek!) the movie will come out in July. Probably in September... Actually does anyone know the exact day that HBP will come out in Greece?

I think WB have changed the date of the film purely for their own benedit. They want a way to make more money(even though they don't need it).By making the fans wait for about 11 months they are building up the anticipation for the film.I hate that they changed the dates! But i am still going to see the film because its harry potter of couse. This is annoying becuase im really pissed off at WB but they still get my money.I know lots of people are saying they are going to boycot but i think those people are hardcore harry potter fans and will probably,in the end,see the film(how could you miss a harry potter?).But it would be hilarious if no one turned up to the film on opening day.

I'm dissapointed. VERY Dissapointed. They're only doing it Becasuse the dark knight had so much success. They Have enough money from the success of that film, so they're holding back on this one. They're Tight B@st@rds. Theye made the film, so it's gonna be sitting there for 11 months :(Poor Harry :( I might just go sit and cry
